In downtown Montgomery, AB 60 or so people marched down Dexter Avenue to show their stance on Bingo and their right to vote on it in Alabama.
People were shouting "Let us vote!" The Alabama senate just voted against allowing people to debate on this issue making many bingo lovers quite disgruntled.
The Reverend Jesse Jackson was even in attendance and claims he doesn't understand the reason the lawmakers find bingo to be an immoral activity. "I've not seen 'thou shalt not bingo'. You have bingo in churches and it's a form of entertainment, " said Rev. Jackson.
The people who came to the rally took this issue very personally. The closing down of halls has effected a lot of people and their families. Many people are still without jobs. Supporters of Bingo acknowledge that the march may or may not be successful but they do feel strongly that their voices will be heard. Another rally is planned on the Capitol steps this week.
Hopefully their voices will be heard and they can get back to playing the game they love-BINGO!
