Millionaire saves pub

A £12M jackpot winner “fed up” of holidays is working 12-hour days serving pints at her village inn.

Sandra Fosbrooke, 48,  used some of her winnings to rescue her favorite local neighborhood pub after it closed. She and her husband were regulars at the pub and couldn't bare to see it go. The couple spent thousands of dollars renovating the old pub and were very excited to keep it a part of their community.

After the win Sandra admits she was a bit bored and was getting tired of taking holidays so they jumped at the opportunity to take over the pub. It has become a family affair with her son, his partner and her mother working there as well. She couldn't be happier pouring pints and cooking for her friends in the community even though she works seven days a week.

Sandra has had to learn quite a bit on how to change the kegs, pour the perfect beer and make traditional pub fare but now she believes she is at the top of her game. She puts on a £4.95 two-course special for pensioners once a week and the quality of the pub’s beer is so good that they are in the running for the brewery’s national “beer excellence” award.

Sandra and Ken have bought houses, cars and foreign holidays for close relatives and a holiday home in Spain since their win but they never want to leave their little mining village.

Sandra, said when she won a lot of people wanted to become her friend however that never lasted long. She says her old friends are “realize we are still the same people we were before our win and we have been fortunate to retain their friendship.”
Her husband even went back to work as a £5-an-hour bingo caller at his local rugby club where he worked before the couple’s win. He told friends who couldn’t believe he was returning to bingo-calling: “It’s a bit boring being a multi-millionaire.”

Villager Graham Jones said: “It’s a really homely, sociable pub which is very welcoming and it’s put the life back into the village. You would never think from the way that Sandra bustles around that she is worth millions – but that’s the sort of person she is. There are no airs and graces about her – she just gets on with the job.”
