A man who was part of a robbery has been jailed for 4 years. Craig Stevenson 25, tried to rob a bingo hall in Norwich on July 3rd last year.

On the day of the robbery, two men entered the building on a motorcycle around 8:15 am. One of them was armed with a knife, ran inside and grabbed a young woman as a hostage. The intruder took her from room to room; while he was looking for the money he wore a motorcycle helmet to protect his identity.
Eventually the attacker arrived at the main hall where he met the janitor, Marrison Lee. He told Mr. Marrison to throw himself on the floor but instead he bravely struggled with the offender and made them leave the building. The two robbers left empty-handed.
Police found the knife while investigating; although they tested the knife they could not prove if Stephenson was the man that entered the building or if we was the driver of the motorcycle waiting outside.
Stephenson, father of one child, was found by police at his house in Suncroft, Lakenham. They also found his helmet and knife case used in the robbery. The motorcycle was also found later on.
The accused feels guilty about his collaboration in the robbery and was sentenced to 4 years in prison for attempted robbery.
A police spokesman said they are still looking for information about this incident. “Officers have always believed a second male was involved in the incident and would appeal for anyone who thinks they may know his identity or hold any information relating to his whereabouts to contact Norfolk Constabulary,” she said.
