Bingo games have been held at Court Street Bingo in Prestonsburg for some time but they have been thinking about changing their location because of a smoking ban.
Mary Stephens helps to run two of the games, one for the Jenny Wiley Theatre and another for the Floyd County Animal Shelter confessed last week “I’m telling you that attendance has fallen, it’s just gone down.” “We’ve gained no new players, so we have a new building and will be moving after the first of the year.”
They said that the bingo hall has tried its best to accommodate the smoking ban since Nov 1st, like adding a smoking area behind the building. They even informed players using yellow tape taped 10 feet from the front door. Mary said "that has not been enough."
Their only hope is to see an exemption included for bingo halls. Or I would suggest these players join the huge online bingo community where smoking and playing bingo at the same time is not a problem in a chat room.
