Country Music legend George Jones is a big bingo supporter.
It’s a good day for bingo when advocates such as George Jones backs its cause. The well-loved country music star has been touted as the greatest living country singer, and has sung and performed with the likes of Tammy Wynette (his ex-wife), Alan Jackson, and Dolly Parton over the years. Now he’s singing praises of bingo, and supporting a bill that will allow electronic bingo machines at various locations across Alabama, including Country Crossings – a music and entertainment venue.
Country Crossings is currently under development, but once built will have celebrity-themed restaurants, a fairgrounds, bowling center and an electronic charitable bingo pavilion.
Despite being in his late 70s, George Jones is still an active recording artist and still tours extensively in North America and overseas. Jones and four other country music stars are now making the rounds to promote the bill that would result in thousands of jobs, millions of dollars in revenue and a ton of country stars coming to the state of Alabama. And with the support of public officials, the general public, and legends such as Mr. Jones, the likelihood that the bill will be passed is quite great.
We all know the many benefits of bingo, but now we can add job creation and economic support to that list, right beneath ‘fun’, ‘social’ and ‘mental rejuvenation’. No wonder George Jones is a bingo fan!
