A curious look into success and failure brought by chance.
I’m sure you’ve all heard the expression “good luck!” in our bingo chat rooms more times than you care to admit. What does it even mean? We all wish each other luck in the bingo games, or we complain we’ve had bad luck when days go by without a jackpot in our purses.
So what is this mysterious concept of luck, and how does one get it? Can luck be manipulated for our own gain? Can it be bottled and sold as a pre-bingo drink perhaps?
Luck seems to be beyond our control. But what about bingo luck? If you go to the bingo hall you can see superstitious ladies and men who are convinced that their troll dolls, rainbow dice, or magic coin collection will bring them good luck, or perhaps their lucky bingo dauber. Only they know for sure whether any of it actually works.
It’s hard to believe that luck is something we can manipulate, yet so many people who have given up trying to understand Lady Luck still attempt to wine and dine her. Isn’t that strange?
Maybe it’s worth not giving up on the concept entirely, and as long as you understand that if you’re playing bingo to gamble, you’re in the wrong place. Bingo halls are fun, exciting, social places where you can have a laugh and meet some new friends. And with a little luck you’ll have a terrific time! And bring home a few jackpots too.
