Editorial: With the rain comes bingo. Summer rain. It's always disappointing when the big summer barbecue gets rained out, or an outdoor game of kickball gets cancelled due to some summer rain. But how about a week of rain, or more? How about torrential rain? Britain is recovering from torrential rains, with more than one month's worth of rain falling in a few hours in some places. And they're predicting more rain. This weekend, playing in a softball tournament, I too experienced the tribulations of summer rain when half of the softball fields were reduced to a saturated and muddy, unusable mess. And the English are not the only ones suffering a rainy summer. Everything from torrential rain in Texas to killer rain-triggered floods and landslides in China, to heavy rain in New York city and Australia, and still more severe rainstorms hitting all of Germany. It's like a global rainy season! Nothing brings a sense of global community like widespread rainstorms. What to do with that sense of community? Bring it to the bingo hall.
