Editorial: Yelling Bingo

Happiness is Yelling Bingo, or so I've seen on a bumper sticker or two. Is it true?

Well, of course, happiness is subjective. I think the biggest part of the excitement of yelling bingo is the anticipation, the tension of the game, the tightness in your belly, that can only be relieved by the loud yelp of Bingo!

Picture the scene: so you're sitting at home online while your hubby is watching the game on tv, or else you and your best mate are at the bingo hall daubing your numbers. The numbers are being called just barely slow enough for you to catch them all, any faster and you'd miss a square or two, and your eyes are scanning your bingo cards and looking for a bingo.

Then, when you can hardly stand it, they're calling ball number 48, ball number 49, you're one ball away, the madness of it all! Then finally you see it. Bingo. You jump out of your chair and scream "Bingo!" Your friend seated beside you is elated for your good fortune! Your husband averts his gaze from the tv set and looks behind him at the computer! How much money have you won? You know what? It doesn't even matter. Because the stress and the tension that is released when you shout that one word is what bingo is all about. So next time you're scanning your cards, looking for a win, if you find one - be sure to yell bingo as hard as you can. Because after all - "Happiness is Yelling Bingo!"
